This is the latest release of the Office 2010 Installer Channel Switcher. It fixes a few bugs in previous versions and adds two new features: you can run the installer in silent mode without overwriting at all, and you can automatically unregister old versions. It also includes a small fix to ensure that it will not modify any files on your computer when installed into an alternate location. This blog post was written with our online tool called Wizard, which does all of this for you! You'll find out more about its features below. This is a free tool for Microsoft Office 2010. It allows you to switch the channel used by Office 2010 setup from the original volume-licensed "VL" channel to either a normal retail channel, or a volume-licensed channel (VL or VLP) of your own making. This has been requested by users who wish to use their product keys on more than one computer, but do not want to run setup multiple times on each computer. If you do not want to change channels, this tool will be of no use to you and you may close this article now. The first thing we need to do is begin the process of installing Office on our machine and then cancel out before we're asked for a product key. Do not enter one. Instead, just cancel out of the installation using the Cancel button in the dialog box that appears after you click Install in the setup program. Next, run this tool on your machine. It is present in Windows Update Catalogue under "Office 2010" > "Updates" > "Optional" . If you are unsure of where it is, launch Windows Update manually from Control Panel or System and Security, then use View installed updates to find it without knowing its name. The tool will display a message box asking if you want to continue with an uninstall-before-installation. Click OK to that box if you want to do that. Otherwise, click Cancel on that box. If you are installing Office 2010 on the same machine on which it was previously installed, some files may have been left behind causing some changes to be made to your operating system. If you want to install Office again on your computer with all these changes, simply use the same steps as above, but this time select Install instead of uninstall after clicking Cancel. You can then indicate if you wish to change channels or not by clicking the Change Channel button at the end of this wizard's process. Next, we need to locate our product keys (this is where your Serial Keys etc. are stored). They will be located in a \\ProgramData\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Programs\\Accessories\\System Tools folder. By default they have been named Office 2010 Product Key.ini and Office 2010 Volume License Product Key.ini . Copy those two files to a safe location, as we will need them later on. Now we can run the installer channel switcher wizard again. This time, run it with an /uninstall option so that it does not launch setup instead of just launching the installation dialog for us: "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft Office 2010 Installer Channel Switcher\\Office2010-InstallerChannelSwitcher. cfa1e77820
